How to Track Answered Prayers

How to Track Answered Prayers

Tracking answered prayers can be deeply encouraging, but it needs to be handled with care. Prayer is not a transaction, and God's faithfulness is not measured only by immediate outcomes.

Still, looking back matters. It helps you remember what you brought to God and notice how situations changed over time.

Start With the Original Prayer

Write the prayer simply:

God, I am asking for wisdom about this decision.

Do not over-explain. Future you will understand the context.

Add a Status

A few simple statuses can help:

  • Praying
  • Waiting
  • Answered
  • Still unclear
  • Thankful

The point is not to force every prayer into a neat category. The point is to return with attention.

Add Updates Over Time

When something changes, write a short note:

Two weeks later, I had a conversation that brought clarity.

Or:

I still do not know the answer, but I feel more peaceful today.

Both kinds of updates matter.

Look for Faithfulness, Not Just Outcomes

Sometimes the answer is obvious. Sometimes the gift is endurance, wisdom, patience, or support from someone else.

Tracking prayers helps you notice more than results. It helps you notice God with you in the process.

Continue in Daily Selah

You can save and revisit prayers in the Daily Selah prayer journal. If you want Scripture first, begin with daily Scripture.
